Cycling is great in Japan. Just hop on a train with your bike and a backpack, reach your destination and start cycling somewhere! You get to see some great scenery and meet a lot of cool people. It is pretty low cost as well. Trains, business hotels or camping on the side of the road make a lot of fun.
